On the desk, there's a black marble-patterned pen holder with two pens, a scalloped dish containing three pipes, a spiral notebook with a flower on the cover, an open handwritten letter, a pair of glasses, and some small objects. Outside the window, green plants and ferns are visible.

What Inspired The Study?

Home office with a wooden desk, desktop computer, bookshelf, and window seat with cushions in a room with green wallpaper and hardwood floors.

The Study began long before it had a name. Its roots stretch back to two places that shaped my understanding of what a workspace could feel like.

One is the Haig-Brown House on Vancouver Island where time seems to slow down. The fly-tying room there, with its worn wood and handmade floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, holds a kind of reverence you can feel in your chest. It’s a place built for craftsmanship and focus, where the mind settles and ideas gather themselves.

The other is far more personal: my mom’s study, a room that existed exclusively for my work-from-home mom in every house I ever lived in as a kid. Organized, intentional, and distinctly hers. It taught me that having a dedicated space for your work matters. It shapes how you show up, what you create, and how you feel doing it.

The Study is built from those two influences:
- The stillness of a riverside lodge and the warmth of a lifelong work ritual.
- A blend of craftsmanship and practicality.
- A place that is both retreat and workspace.

A quiet environment where your office isn’t an afterthought:
it’s a space that supports your best work.
